Public art in Muncie has a long history, stretching back to the Indiana Gas Boom. City officials, private individuals, non-profit organizations, religious groups, and even cemeteries have sought to enrichen the lives of Muncie's citizens by providing public artwork that symbolize or commemorate people, places, and events. The photos located on this website seek to provide a starting point for residents and visitors to explore the city’s public artworks.

As the Muncie Arts and Culture Council continue their work in improving and promoting Muncie’s artistic and cultural offerings, new pieces will be commissioned throughout the city to continue in this effort.

This project was generously funded by the Ball Brothers Foundation. All photographs were taken by Chris Flook and Jarred Scott. The website was designed and developed by Chris Flook and Chris Raleigh. All photos of art on public property are copyrighted material and owned by the Muncie Arts and Culture Council. All photos of art on private property are copyrighted by the respective owners of those pieces.

We encourage you to explore the city’s public art. The website contains a map of all locations and brief descriptions. Several of the pieces are located on private property. Please ask permission from the property owner before visiting these locations.

If we’ve missed any public art, email info@munciearts.org to have it added to this website.
